19th Century Paris:

Paris was divided. Into the ‘Fat and Thin’ – the upper class who had so much wealth that they didn’t bother to protest against the oppression they faced under Napoleon’s regime- living lives of selfish luxury and those who were too poor to feed themselves and suffered a life of poverty, prostitution, illness and homelessness.

But death came to them all… and finally and their spirits ‘ live’ on.

In Café Amsterdam on Halloween, these spirits come to life for one night- a performance in purgatory, “A Spectacle in the Theatre of the Damned”

The sinners and the sinned: orphaned children who were left dead on Paris’ streets, murdered prostitutes, the rich selfish bar owners and their over adorned wives, the homeless lepers and the madmen. And the artists, poets, writers, musicians and performers to tell the story.
